Evolution of Association Agreements with the European Union with Third Countries and / or International Organizations: Theoretical and Historical Aspects

Abstract

The article is devoted to the identification of stages and generations of agreements on association of the EU with third countries. In the practice of external relations of the EU, the following types of agreements were formed: sectoral cooperation agreements; trade agreements; Partnership and Cooperation Agreement; association agreement. It should be noted that any of the agreements concluded by the EU should have the legal basis provided for by the constituent agreements of this association. The special features of the Association Agreement have been studied in comparison with similar agreements with Moldova and Georgia. It is determined that the unique element of the trade chapter of the Association Agreement with Ukraine is an unprecedented form of "integration" in the EU internal market in the field of services / foundation and public procurement.Key words: EU, Ukraine, association agreement, free trade zone, approximation of legislation.
